The NFL announced yesterday that two Week 14 Dec. 11 games will be swapped because of Flex Scheduling:

  • The Dolphins at Chargers game, which was originally scheduled for 4:05 PM ET, has been moved to 8:20 PM ET.
  • The Chiefs at Broncos game, which was originally scheduled to begin at 8:20 PM ET, has been moved to 4:05 PM ET.

The NFL announced today that it is flexing two Week 11, Sunday, November 20 games:

  • The Chiefs at Chargers game, originally scheduled to be played at 4:25 PM ET, will now be played at 8:20 PM ET.
  • The Bengals at Steelers match-up, previously slated to start at 8:20 PM ET, is rescheduled to kickoff at 4:25 PM ET.

According to CBS Sports, Football Weblog’s 2021 Adopt-A-Player Will Shipley is scoring at a record-breaking rate. He is the only Clemson player since 1950 to score more than one touchdown in each of the first three games. He has two rushing touchdowns in each of the Tigers’ first three games. He is one of only three players who have done it so far this season. He is unquestionably a threat every time he touches the ball, and is one of the key players for the Tigers.

In Clemson’s 51-45 double-overtime win over Wake Forest, Shipley once again turned in an outstanding performance. He rushed for 104 yards on 20 carries including a hard fought 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter in which Shipley simply would not be denied.

Football Weblog’s adopted gridders shone brightly in their respective openers.  Our 2021 Adopt-A-Player, running back Will Shipley, rushed for 42 yards on 10 carries and punched in two TDs in Clemson’s 41-10 beatdown of Georgia Tech.  This season’s addition, running back Raleek Brown, helped pace the USC Trojans in their 66-14 shellacking of the Rice Owls with 6 carries for 36 yards.  Brown also found the endzone in the 2nd quarter.

The 2022 NFL regular season kicks off in four days from the date of this post. If you’re like most of us, you’re champing on the bit for the football season to start. Thankfully the NFL released its free annual appetizer in PDF format — the 2022 NFL Kickoff Guide. The Kickoff Guide is a 243-page tome stuffed to the gills with football content. It’s an incredible piece of work that can be downloaded for free and I highly recommend you check it out.

Online Draft vs Live Draft

Online fantasy football drafts are as ubiquitous to fantasy football as cheat sheets and mock drafts. They are convenient and efficient. An online draft will tell you who was picked, who is still available, and suggest players that may be appropriate to select with each of your upcoming selections. And if you’re not able to decide on a player, the autodraft feature will faithfully pick a player for you. Even if you don’t know the NFL from a divot in the gridiron, an online draft will almost guarantee that every fantasy team in the league will be a contender.

That’s all great if you have a hedonistic slant – someone that constantly seeks easy, short-term gratification. But if you have a more stoic attitude, you may want to consider a live draft. A live draft will lend your league some grit. If team owners want to seriously contend for the title, they will need to come to the draft prepared. And in a live draft, “mommy autodraft” will not be there to bail out little Timmy.

Because a live draft is not online nor automated, you need a way to keep track of players that have been picked and players that are still available. The best way to do this is with an old-school Draft Board and Player Labels.

Happily, there’s still a large demand for Draft Boards and Player Labels, and they are easy to find online. A quick Google search will turn up tons of options. There are jumbo Draft Boards, colorful Draft Boards, glossy Draft Boards, and flashy Draft Boards. You may not think much of Football Weblog’s Adopt-A-Player players right now – but eventually you will. Do the names Jerry Jeudy, Tua Tagovailoa, and Najee Harris mean anything to you? Of course, they do. They are among pro football’s hottest and brightest young stars. But back in 2017 they were in the same shoes as our current adopted players – just highly touted high school gridders. So, get to know these kids. It will be fun to track their college careers as they showcase their talents for the NFL scouts and vie for an early round draft pick in a few years. And remember you heard of these guys here first!
