The Autumn Wind in Pirate Speak
Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. To commemorate, I ran Steve Sabol’s football classic poem The Autumn Wind through an online Pirate Translator. This is what I got.
Th’ Autumn wind be a pirate
Blusterin’ in from sea
Wit’ a rollickin’ chanty he sweeps along
Swaggerin’ boisterously.
His face be weatherbeaten
He wears a hooded sash
wit’ a silver hat ’bout his head
‘n a bristlin’ black mustache.
He growls as he storms th’ country
A villain big ‘n bold
‘n th’ trees all shake ‘n quiver ‘n quake
As he robs them o’ thar gold.
Th’ Autumn wind be a Raider
Pillagin’ jus’ fer fun
He’ll knock ye ‘round ‘n upside down
‘n yo ho ho when he’s conquered ‘n won.
Check out this NFL Films video to hear the original rendition.
Always run t’ daylight, ya ornery cusses!
