For those of you that enjoy displaying our monthly calendar, September 2016 is ready.  This month, Sunday was enlarged so all the scheduled NFL games could be individually listed.  You won’t find other calendar publishers trying that sort of twisted tommyrot, but I know it’s that kind of thinking that makes Football Weblog unique and keeps you guys coming back. Enjoy!

Football Weblog’s monthly calendar comes in two formats. The first is configured to print on two standard 8½ x 11 sheets of paper. The second is arranged to fit an 11 x 17 sheet. Choose your desired format from the links below.

I’ve previously published One-Page Schedules for the NFL.  This time I thought I’d try my hand at a collegiate conference.  I present to you the 2016 One-Page Big Ten Football Schedule!  Like the NFL schedules I’ve done, it’s in PDF format — ready to be downloaded and printed on a single sheet of paper.  And there’s a version for each U.S. time zone.  Enjoy!

In 1929, Ohio State hosted Iowa in a hard fought classic duel that saw the Buckeyes pull out a narrow 7-6 win.  This month’s calendar features cover art from that day’s game program.

In 2014, I published a printable NFL wallet schedule in PDF format. It worked well. Every regular season game fit neatly on a standard 2” x 3-½” business card. But, although it was handy as a quick reference, it was difficult to read and flimsy when printed on normal paper.

This year I decided to create a similar schedule, but this time I commissioned a print shop. As before, the schedule lists all 256 regular season NFL games, but is now printed on sturdy 14pt matte-coated cardstock for durability. NFC games are listed on one side; AFC games on the other. The schedule is color-coded to quickly identify Monday night games, Thursday games, byes, etc. Printed dimensions are 3-½” x 6” size, but include two score lines to enable easy folding to a compact 2” x 3-½” business card size – perfect for your wallet.

In 2014, Facebook released a map that identified the NFL team that received the most “Likes” for each U.S. county.  It’s a colorful and interesting diagram, so I decided to feature it in this month’s football calendar.  The thing I found most remarkable was the lack of support for the pitiable New York Jets franchise.  Not one county in the entire nation gave the Jets the majority of “Likes”.  Ouch.

In 2015, the NFL launched its official channel on YouTube (YouTube.com/NFL).  The channel showcases game previews, in-game highlights, post-game recaps, as well as news clips, analysis, fantasy football advice, and more.

On May 12th the NFL and YouTube announced a multi-year renewal of their partnership.  The new collaboration will feature an expanded amount of content.  Of particular note, for the first time ever on YouTube, the NFL will make available some of the most exciting games in their history.  They will present the three most notable games for each of the 32 clubs in the league.  Although specific dates regarding when these games will become available for viewing has not yet been revealed, the NFL did divulge that it will be sometime before the start of the 2016 season.

Modern football can be vicious. Common injuries include strains, sprains, tears, contusions, separations, dislocations, and concussions. But we’ve come a long way since the killing fields-era of early American football. Football in the early 1900s was lethally brutal. In 1904 alone, the Chicago Tribune reported 18 deaths and 159 severe injuries on the football field – mostly among prep school players.

Football Weblog’s June 2016 Football Calendar features James Francis Wathohunk Thorpe, a player that not only survived but starred in the early 20th century. Jim Thorpe was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1963, and is celebrated as “The World’s Greatest Athlete”.

The NFL recently launched the NFL Newborn Fan Club.  Don’t let the name fool you however.  It’s not just for newborns.  Kids born since January 1, 2012, are currently eligible to join.  You can even enroll your child if you are expecting!  The cost?  Totally free!  If you’re a parent/grandparent, or parent/grandparent-to-be, be sure to enroll your child soon.  It’s a great way to pass on your football traditions to the next generation.

On April 14th, the NFL released its official game schedule – all 19 pages worth.  The NFL does a great job presenting information if you’re searching for games being “tri-cast” on CBS/NBC, NFL Network, and Twitter, but I’ll take my 256-game regular season NFL schedule on one 8½” x 11” sheet of paper, thank you.  Life is filled with enough clutter the way it is.

Without further ado, I present to you the 2016 One-Page NFL Schedule, in PDF format, ready to be downloaded and printed on a single sheet of paper.  As in previous seasons, I’ve created a version for each U.S. time zone.  Isn’t nanotechnology great?  Enjoy!

When I was young, back when rocks were still soft, my best friend, Jack, received the most awesomest present a 10-year-old boy could receive.  It was a Tudor electric football game featuring the Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl IV.  As electric football games go, there was probably never a more realistic model produced.  As a Vikings fan, despite the Purple’s loss in Super Bowl IV, it was a piece of art.  I appreciated the game even at that young age and drool over it to this day.  Jack is no longer the football fan that I am, but knows something special when he sees it.  He still has the game some 45 odd years later.  I feature a picture of the game in this month’s football calendar.

The birds are singing, the cold winter weather is behind us, and the warm sun and rain showers are greening up the lawns and making the trees bud.  As Kip Dynamite would say, “that’s pretty cool I guess”.  But if you’re a football fan, it’s still the dark days, because football season is about as far away as it can get.  Yet there are still things to get excited about.  April means the NFL Player Draft.  It’s always fun to see where the top prospects end up, and speculate what those new player additions will mean to the clubs that select them.

Football Weblog’s monthly football calendar can help too.  Not only does it show the dates of the 2016 NFL Player Draft (April 28-30), but it also includes the birth dates of the best NFL players, both past and present.  Displaying Football Weblog’s colorful calendar is a great way to show that you’re a football fan.

Last Thursday, the NFL released its incredible 67-page Official 2015 NFL Statistics book.  I love it!  It’s a huge compilation of stats ranging from rushing, passing, and receiving, to interceptions, punt returns, and field goals.  Whatever NFL stat you’re looking for from 2015, chances are you’ll find it here.  Best of all, it’s offered by the league for free!  Click HERE to open or download your copy now.  You may also want to check out the Football Weblog Printables page for other NFL publications and exclusive Football Weblog printables.

In December of 2014, Football Weblog eclipsed 15,000 all-time views.  I acknowledged that landmark number with a fun, little John F. Kennedy-like post proclaiming that Football Weblog is shooting for the moon.  The post included an image showing a rocket speeding away from the earth at an elevation of 15,000 yards – one yard for every view.  (Hey, progress on the gridiron is tracked in yards.  If you’re running a football blog, the unit of measure has to be yards!)  This is an update on that post.  As you can see by the infographic below, traffic to Football Weblog continues to grow at an increasing rate.  Godspeed, Football Weblog, and thank you to everyone for your support!
