Free Stuff From the NFL
Do you love football? Do you like getting things for free? Do you enjoy receiving things in the mail? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this post is for you! I’ll explain how you can get stuff in the mail from your favorite NFL team – all for free!
Each NFL franchise is in business to garner your hard-earned buck. Fans pay the bills when it comes to NFL football. So why do NFL teams give out stuff for free? In a nutshell, it’s a promotional thing. Whenever we show support of a team, perhaps by displaying posters or banners, we are advertising for that team. We help generate interest, and ultimately make the franchise more profitable. One promotional item that NFL teams often give away for free are “fan packs”.
An NFL fan pack is a package that’s typically filled with mostly inexpensive, but oftentimes very cool, little goodies related to the team. Stickers, trading cards, posters are all examples of what may be included in a fan pack. Some teams are very generous and will include a bunch of free stuff. Other teams may be more reserved. In almost all cases, the items are fun and varied. It’s a delight to open a fan pack to discover the unique feast of trinkets that a team has enclosed.
Most teams offer fan packs, though some do not. Teams that do not offer fan packs will usually have other giveaways such as a free pocket schedule or perhaps the ability to subscribe to a free email newsletter.
When requesting a fan pack, or other complimentary items, you must remember that the team is giving you things for free, and in many cases, mailing at their own expense. Please be polite. Bear in mind, too, that some poor college intern is probably working his fingers to the bones processing all the mail that the team receives, so be patient as well. Sometimes it will take a few weeks before your package arrives. Here is a sample letter/email of a normal request for a fan pack. Of course, rewrite it as applicable for yourself.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I’m a big Houston Texans fan, but live in Minnesota. Would it be possible to receive a Texans Fan Pack? I would like to show my support of the team by displaying some Houston Texans items in my office at work.

Some teams will send out a fan pack, or other gratis items, simply by filling out an online form, or by sending their office an email. Others may require sending a SASE (stamped self-addressed envelope) to cut down on their mailing expenses. In all cases, make sure you include your name and mailing address or the team will not know where to send your delivery. To make it easy for you, I’ve compiled a list of all the NFL teams, along with special instructions regarding what specifically you need to do to get their fan pack or other free items. Enjoy!
