2022 Adopt-A-Player is Named
You may not think much of Football Weblog’s Adopt-A-Player players right now – but eventually you will. Do the names Jerry Jeudy, Tua Tagovailoa, and Najee Harris mean anything to you? Of course, they do. They are among pro football’s hottest and brightest young stars. But back in 2017 they were in the same shoes as our current adopted players – just highly touted high school gridders. So, get to know these kids. It will be fun to track their college careers as they showcase their talents for the NFL scouts and vie for an early round draft pick in a few years. And remember you heard of these guys here first!
This year’s random selection of a top 50 high school skill player prospect is, for the second year in a row, a running back. I’d like to introduce to you…
Raleek Brown
5’-8” 185 lbs
Position: RB
Hometown: Santa Ana, CA
Commit Status: USC (signed December 15, 2021)
Raleek Brown – Get to Know Him
Five-star running back Raleek Brown is a 5’-8”, 185 lb. dynamo. Born on August 2, 2003, Raleek is small in stature, but very fast. He frequently draws comparisons to the Colt’s Nyheim Hines.
Raleek eclipsed the 11-second mark in the 100-yard dash multiple times and, as a high school freshman, notched a certified 4.47 in the 40. Even better, his speed is clearly visible on the field. He runs with impressive short distance suddenness and lateral explosiveness. Raleek is also adept at catching the ball and will likely develop into a capable all-purpose back.
Raleek originally committed to play his college ball with Oklahoma, but decommitted to play for the USC Trojans instead. It’s assumed that was related to the announcement that Oklahoma’s head coach, Lincoln Riley, had left the Sooners to become the head coach at USC. The Trojans open their 2022 campaign at home versus Rice on Saturday, September 3.
Welcome Raleek, and best wishes on your upcoming freshman season!
